THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A HOME PADEL COURT
by Chris Browne – Go Padel MemberÂ
I live in a lovely village in Sussex called Patching not far from Arundel. The house is called Selden Court and is so named because it had a Lawn Tennis Court on which it is rumoured that Bunny Austin, the Wimbledon Singles Finalist and contemporary of Fred Perry , played regularly on when he lived in Patching after the War.
I started playing Padel about 15 years ago and was restricted to a once a year hit with my pals on our annual trip to Spain. We would play every day for 4 days then return home and pack up our rackets for another year.
So in 2014 I decided it was time to build a court in my own grounds. It was sent over from Alicante, Spain, andinstalled very quickly and The past 6/7 years have been amazing with several regular groups of friends and local players making use of the court and enjoying some great events as well as introducing the sport to so many new players.
I would thoroughly recommend building and owning your own court , as once installed the upkeep is minimal and in my case the court surface has stood up well to the vagaries of the English weather. We Jet Wash the floor and glass walls every spring and cover with a tarpaulin when not in use.
